On the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the October Liberation War, official and popular events today visited a number of martyrs' cemeteries in the provinces, laid wreaths on their shrines, and recited Al-Fatihah for their pure souls. They also met a number of families of the martyrs and the wounded.

During his visit to the Dahdah cemetery, the Governor of Damascus, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Kreishati, confirmed that the October Liberation War embodied great heroic epics, the will and determination of the Syrians, the strength of the army and the armed forces, and their willingness to sacrifice for the sake of their homeland’s pride and dignity, and demonstrated the steadfastness, valor and courage of the Syrian soldier.

Krishati pointed out that Syria's steadfastness over recent years in the face of the terrorist war is a continuation of the meanings enshrined in the October war in defending the homeland and the unity of its land and people.

In the cemetery of the martyrs in Najha in rural Damascus, the governor of Damascus countryside, Safwan Abu Saada, pointed out that the anniversary of the October Liberation War is an important station, during which the Syrian Arab Army wrote the most wonderful epics of heroism and redemption and achieved a victory we cherish and be proud of. On the most dangerous terrorist war the world has seen.

Abu Saada also met with a number of families of the martyrs and the wounded, stressing the governorate's readiness to provide everything they need, and that their demands are prioritized.

In a statement to SANA’s reporter on this occasion, Alia Al-Khalif, the mother of two martyrs from the Al-Buwaidah region, stated that all her sons are sacrificed for the homeland. Victory can only be achieved through sacrifice, while Marei Hassan Al-Mubarak, the father of two martyrs, also pointed out that what their sons gave is a duty towards their homeland so that future generations may live, as Al-Jarih indicated. Mutasim Al-Azhar said that the homeland deserves every sacrifice. The victories of the October liberation war were based on the sacrifices of the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army, which today completes the path to victory over terrorism.

In Homs, the Governor of Homs, Engineer Namir Makhlouf, visited the cemetery of the martyrs, where Al-Fatihah was read, and wreaths were laid at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier to the rhythm of the martyr’s melodies and his farewell.

The secretaries of the Baath Party branches in Damascus, Damascus Countryside and Homs, and the two police chiefs of Damascus and Homs participated in the visits.
