With a large number of his paintings and written sayings, and on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, “Fateh Al Mudarres Studio” opened today the “Studies and Small Works of Fateh Al Mudarres” exhibition, which is part of the “Days of Fine Art” celebration held by the Ministry of Culture.

The exhibition included nearly fifty works by the late teacher, which varied between studies in calligraphy, small colored works and some drafts.

Wassim Abdel Hamid, Director of the Directorate of Fine Arts in the Ministry of Culture, described the teacher, or as he is called “the teacher,” as a large part of the beginnings of Syrian plastic art.

He explained that the exhibition is considered a first spark for the launch of the "Days of Fine Art" celebration in cultural centers and galleries.

Abdul Hamid pointed out the difficulty of the stage that Syrian plastic art is going through in terms of marketing and displaying the product despite the amount of creativity present, stressing that work is continuing to advance the fine movement, and return it to its natural place at various levels.

The plastic artist Issam Darwish indicated that the Fateh al-Modarres exhibition is part of the annual event “Syrian Plastic Days,” in which all official and private galleries participate as a kind of encouragement of Syrian artistic activity.

Regarding the reality of Syrian plastic art, Darwish pointed out that it is one of the most active cultural events, but the obstacles are limited to marketing despite the abundance of production.

Journalist Zaid Qatrib talked about the exhibition as a commemoration of the centenary of the birth of the artist Fateh al-Modarres, who is considered one of the founders of Syrian and international plastic art, indicating that it is an opportunity to learn about many of his works and tools, describing the artist teacher as a cultural and color reservoir and deserves to be celebrated.

The plastic artist, Saed Salloum, who is considered one of the students of the late artist, recalled at the beginning of his speech the old days in the studio in which the exhibition was held, and stated that the exhibition reflected a long stage of the teacher’s experience, and highlighted many of his works, and saw that it was a reason to inspire the current plastic artists, especially his fans.

It is noteworthy that the late artist Fateh Al-Modarres is considered one of the leaders of the modern art movement in Syria.
