The low-cost subsidiary of SNCF, established in Spain since May 2021, will offer five daily round trips between Madrid and Valencia from October 7.

Ouigo continues its conquest of Spain.

The low-cost subsidiary of SNCF is launching its second line on the other side of the Pyrenees this Friday, October 7, between Madrid (Chamartin station) and Valencia (Joaquín Sorolla station).

Five daily round trips are planned non-stop between the two cities, 300 km apart.

Journey time: 1h50.

Tickets start at €9, with a flat rate of €5 for children under 13.

Since May 2021, Ouigo has already provided between five and six daily round trips at 300 km/h between Barcelona and Madrid, thus positioning itself as the first competitor of the national operator, Renfe, on high-speed lines.

A year after its launch, Ouigo claimed two million passengers transported and an average load factor of 97%.

The offer is different from that proposed in the French Ouigo and approaches that proposed in the traditional TGV.

The trains include, for example, a bar and a first class.

A success that prompted Renfe to launch its own low-cost offer, Avlo.

A fourth actor, Iryo (subsidiary of Trenitalia and Air Nostrum), is expected next November on this axis.

SNCF plans to serve other destinations in Spain, including Seville, Málaga and Alicante from 2023. The Spanish network nevertheless remains disconnected from the French network: no Ouigo crosses the border between the two countries.
