The CSU boss will be happy to read this: According to a recent survey, Söder is the most popular politician in Germany, even leaving Annalena Baerbock behind.
According to a survey, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) is currently the most popular politician in Germany.
He overtakes Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens), who is now in second place.
This was the result of a representative survey by the opinion research institute Insa, commissioned by
Bild
.
The North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), the left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht, who recently gave a scandalous speech about Russia in the Bundestag, and the Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir (Greens) follow in second place.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) and Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) rank seventh to ninth.
Söder is also currently the favorite among Union voters: he is at the top of the popularity rankings with 64.9 points, ahead of Friedrich Merz (61.7 points).
Half a year ago, the polls for Söder were rather alarming.
According to a survey, Söder is the most popular German politician – does he benefit from criticism of the traffic light government?
INSA boss Herrmann Binkert suspects
deficits
in the work of the federal government as the reason for Söder's new popularity.
Söder is again perceived as an opposition politician in the federal government - "he tries to get more attention and gets it," said Binkert.
The INSA boss believes that Söder is "still considered by many to be a possible Union Chancellor candidate".
He is a keen critic of the traffic light coalition and recently even complained about "Bavaria bashing" on the part of the federal government.
The Bavarian head of state is also quite active on social networks, regularly sharing his food on Instagram or giving his Facebook fans private insights.
The political scientist Heinrich Oberreuter believes that
Söder
benefits from his loud criticism of the energy policy of the traffic light coalition.
Compared to the Scholz cabinet, which many people would perceive as hesitant, Söder is considered a doer and has also distinguished himself more in practice than Friedrich Merz through his many years as a politician.

According to a survey, Söder is the most popular politician - in the previous week it looked different
A similar survey by the ZDF "political barometer" had come up with very different results last week.
Cem Özdemir was in first place there, followed by Baerbock, Scholz and Habeck.
This was followed by Ministers of Health Lauterbach, Lindner and Söder.
But there are also negative headlines for Söder: On Wednesday (October 5), the state parliament's investigative committee spoke of a "botched" mask deal from Söder and ex-Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer, and Söder's wife Karin Braumüller-Söder is said to have one have played a role.
