With pride, the ancient warriors of Homs recall the victory of the Tishreen War of Liberation, which reinforced the values of masculinity and sacrifice in the hearts of the sons of the homeland over the years, and produced heroic men who fought and endured, and won and are still.

Retired Brigadier General Munther Al-Youssef, head of the Veterans Association in Homs, who participated in the Tishreen Liberation War, recalled the days before the war and prepared for it through training operations, which included various methods to prepare fighters to fight battles of all kinds.

Al-Youssef explains that he was an officer in one of the advanced points and that he witnessed several field visits by the General Command to inspect the front lines and prepare plans, so the promised day came and the operations began, as the Syrian air force began bombing the occupation forces at the Jabal al-Sheikh Observatory and extinguished and destroyed its monitoring tools, to begin firing artillery at All sectors of the front have destroyed fortresses and support points for the enemy army before the ground forces advanced under the umbrella of artillery fire, and crossed the enemy trenches destroying all points and positions, while the enemy groups fled from the battlefield, retreating to the depths of the occupied lands in the face of the intensity of the strikes of our armed forces.

Brigadier-General Al-Yousef affirms that the moment of the outbreak of the operations was a great and unforgettable moment, and it confirmed to the world that we are a people who do not sleep on oppression and are able to restore their rights with all their might.

Retired pilot Colonel Mahmoud Abdel Salam said: Before the war, he was assigned several reconnaissance and combat missions. In September, before the outbreak of the war, two Israeli planes were shot down over the Tartus sector.

Abd al-Salam describes the condition of the Syrian pilots and their longing to fight the enemy in order to restore respect and prove their worth. He says: “Our eagles were fully prepared and raced to carry out the tasks assigned to them, unlike the enemy pilots who were escaping from the confrontation, and this was a reason for our pride.”

Retired Brigadier General Fayez al-Shami points out that the October Liberation War “has a great memory in our hearts because it restored confidence in our army and its ability to use all kinds of modern weapons, and that with will and determination we are able to achieve victory, and that the Syrian Arab soldier is always ready to sacrifice and redeem himself when it comes to the security and dignity of the homeland, This was later confirmed by the war on terror that our army has been waging for ten years.

In turn, retired Lieutenant Colonel Mehrez Bilal explains that the October victory had "a great impact on the hearts of the sons of the armed forces and the Syrian and Arab people in general," pointing out that he had not joined the ranks of the Syrian Arab Army during the war, but joined the army shortly after the war, and says: " We were raised in the army on the values and principles with which our army fought and confronted the enemy, and these values taught us and still teach the convoys of those who joined the army to be soldiers always ready to defend our homeland and preserve its borders and the safety of its citizens.
