The central leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party affirmed that Syria, since the October liberation war, has been gaining strength and belief in its goals, and at the forefront of these goals is the protection of independence, the strengthening of national unity and the historical defense of Arabism.

The leadership indicated in a statement today that SANA received a copy of it on the occasion of the forty-ninth anniversary of the October liberation war, that this anniversary is not just a remembrance of a past history, or a pause on the ruins of a victory that ended. Its components and logic, in order to enhance certainty of victory, and confidence in the honorable and dear future.

The statement clarified that it is the same context, the enemies themselves, and the same response, but what is happening today is on a higher level and an advanced stage, in which the historical conflict with the enemies of Syria and the enemies of Arabism has moved to more severe forms of confrontation and challenge.. If the enemies had won over us in the seventies, they would not have been Today we need these combined and compound wars against us.

The statement pointed out that the mobilization of our enemies for their combined forces, and the devising of new advanced methods in terrorism, occupation, aggression and banditry, is a reflection of their feeling that Syria is still after October working to develop its structures, strengthen its independence, and defend Arabism and its central cause, Palestine.

The statement pointed out that the proud Syrian Arab people, together with their heroic army and their great leader, President Bashar al-Assad, are confronting the toughest wars combined, restoring the spirit of October, and developing methods to confront the enemies of peoples' freedom and independence.

The statement stressed the strength and development of national unity, which all components of our people demonstrated a strong commitment to their national goals, as elections for local administration institutions were carried out with a high level of awareness and democracy. The strong competition also confirmed the people's belief in the importance of local administration in the overall organization of the state and society.

The statement concluded with a salute of appreciation and admiration on this occasion to the spirit of the founding leader Hafez al-Assad, the hero of the two October, the October liberation and the October correction, and to the souls of the martyrs in October and in our continuous response to the aggression.
