The Minister of Transport, Eng. Zuhair Khozaim, discussed with the Iranian Minister of Roads and Cities Building Rostam Qasemi the prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two countries, in the fields of land, sea, air and railway transport.
During a meeting at the ministry building in Damascus, the two ministers discussed the mechanism of framing agreements and memoranda of understanding and looking forward to developing the agreed works within the work of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Committee, including the tripartite rail link for transporting passengers and goods between Syria, Iraq and Iran and vice versa, in addition to studying the establishment of joint business companies and activating maritime transport lines between the ports of the two countries.
The two ministers pointed to the importance of increasing the area of cooperation in air transport and the facilities provided, especially in transporting travelers and visitors, and looking forward to activating the transit and freight traffic line as an important vital economic artery for exchanging goods and increasing and advancing economic development.
The two ministers affirmed their common vision to activate the aspects of cooperation that serve the interests of the two peoples, the continuation and expansion of the work of the technical teams, and the continuous coordination to confront the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the two countries.
