The shelter on the Kieberg is in a bad way - it hasn't been taken care of for a long time.
Now the municipality is covering the costs of several thousand euros.
Icking – There is a hill above the clubhouse in Dorfen, the Kieberg, from which you have a beautiful view of the surroundings.
There has even been a refuge there since the 1970s.
They now want to restore four clubs.
It was decided at the most recent council meeting that the municipality of Icking will pay for the material.
At the same time, an expert will look at the trees on the hill, which may not be able to cope with the next storm.
The municipal council wants to put an end to the “disgraceful” sight
Both motions came from the municipal councilors Ursula Loth (PWG) and Georg Linsinger (UBI) and were accepted unanimously.
There used to be a lot of celebrations up there, Linsinger explained, explaining how important the Kieberg is for Dorfen.
Midsummer festivals were held there.
The refuge is also listed “in every hiking map”.
But now the whole thing looks "disgraceful", "it's one of the most beautiful spots we have".
The sad impression made by the hut in particular also contributes to the fact that not only people seek shelter in it, but also the sheep that graze up there, effect: "Everything is full of dung." Some form of "enclosure" is desirable .

Lack of maintenance costs thousands of euros
Mayor Verena Reithmann (UBI) summed it up as follows: “It has been a long time since anyone has bothered.” It was estimated that the community would have to spend a few thousand euros to have the hut put back in order.
However, the clubs must submit a cost estimate beforehand.
Crooked and uprooted trees: Municipal council commissions expert opinion
About the trees: Some of them have grown into the edge of the slope.
The most recent storm not only warped the maypole in Dorfen, but also uprooted a trunk on the Kieberg.
An expert should now assess to what extent the steep slope can and must be secured - and how stable the vegetation is up there.
