Weather models contradict each other - but expert clarifies

Autumn is finally showing its golden side, but winter could be knocking on the door soon.

Offenbach – The summer in Germany is finally over for this year, even autumn is currently showing its rather cold and wet side.
After warm temperatures in the meantime, however, the joy of a possibly golden autumn is increasing.
However, it shouldn't be long before winter knocks on the door.

Expert explains clear prediction
It was almost summer temperatures that were measured in individual regions in Germany this week.
With 25.3 degrees, Lahr in Baden-Württemberg recorded the absolute highest temperature in Germany on Wednesday.

25 degrees were also reached in Metzingen and Ohlsbach.
It won't be that warm from now on, but the temperatures over the next few days should still be pleasant.
As Jung further reports, the temperature in some places was not below 15 degrees on Thursday morning.
The golden October weather is expected to continue for the next few days.
Occasionally fog can occur and on Friday night little rain is to be expected in places in the north-west, but autumn should show its beautiful side again next week.
The maximum values should then level off at around 15 to 20 degrees.
Mild winter approaching?
Weather models do not quite agree
As Jung explains, citing NOAA's weather forecast, both October and November are expected to be slightly warmer than usual.
The winter as a whole should therefore also end “with a positive deviation of 2 degrees compared to the new climate average for the years 1991 to 2020”.
"That was already a fairly warm period and there should be another two degrees."
However, the latest forecast from the European weather service sees things differently, the weather expert continues.
Accordingly, December and January should be “normally tempered”, while February is clearly too warm and very wet at the same time.
“Normal highs compared to previous years and neither too wet nor too dry.
The bottom line is that none of the leading long-term models see a cold winter.
Neither in Germany nor anywhere else in Europe,” the weather expert continued.
However, the weather model does not rule out individual cold phases.
However, it will only become clear in the coming weeks and months whether the winter will actually be as mild as the European weather model predicts.
