The whereabouts of Perla Huerta, the woman identified by several migrants as the person who "tricked" them into traveling from Texas to Martha's Vineyard, is unknown and a $10,000 reward is now being offered to reach her.
Only her name was known about the woman, but her last name was revealed by The New York Times, which reported that she is a former military doctor and counterintelligence agent who was discharged in September after two decades in the Army and several missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the aforementioned newspaper.
The 48 migrants, all Venezuelans, who flew to the millionaire island in September from Florida and under the governor's authorization, identified Huerta as the person who promised them housing and employment benefits if they agreed to be transported.

"They also confirmed that he was the person who approached them and promised them three months of paid work and free accommodation, free food and free resources, all of which was false," Garcia said.
The last place the woman was seen was in Tampa, according to Garcia.
One of the photos revealed by LULAC was taken in San Antonio by one of the migrants when she was giving them water, the other corresponds to the Facebook page.
"We're 100% sure it's her."
Garcia added that the woman was receiving money "from the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis."
LULAC filed a criminal complaint against Perla Huerta for human trafficking.
