Sotheby's auction house auctioned a 11.15-carat pink diamond in Hong Kong on October 7, and it finally sold for US$49.9 million, equivalent to HK$392 million, setting a world record for the highest price per carat for a diamond in auction history.
The record-setting pink diamond, called the Williamson Pink Star, was originally estimated at $21 million, the Associated Press reported, making it the second-largest pink diamond ever to appear at auction.
