2022-10-07T05:09:31.168Z

The triple salsa world champion choreographer confides in his role as a juror in the TF1 competition and lifts a corner of the veil on his projects.

It's time for the battle of the judges in "Dancing with the stars", this Friday, October 7 at 9:10 p.m. on the front page.

The four members of the jury each coach two couples.

For Chris Marques, it is Thomas Da Costa and Elsa Blois, as well as Florent Peyre and Inès Vandamme.

Historical judge of the competition, he confides in his role in the show and on his projects.

– What advice did you give to the two couples on your team?

Chris Marks.

- I opted for a similar approach for both.

I absolutely wanted them to have confidence in their choreography.

And the last piece of advice I give them is to have fun.

Since we spent the whole week on the technique, at the last minute, I want their eyes to shine, it has to sparkle.

The two couples of your team are rather in the middle of the classification.

We didn't make it easy for you in this battle of the judges, did we?

You know, what interests me is the result.

If they are two people in the middle of the ranking, it means that they are quite close to the top of the ranking as well.

So it will be fine.

What is your view of this 12th edition?

We have a very good season.

We came out of a brilliant season last year and it's always complicated because we don't want to reproduce exactly the same thing to create surprise.

Casting is so important, so difficult to do and this season I'm happy because there is a very big promise of spectacle.

People love "Dancing with the Stars" because it's one of the few shows that still makes you dream.

We see great performances, surpassing oneself is omnipresent.

There's no way you can perform for two minutes on set if you haven't worked incredibly hard all week.

Some were surprised on social networks that you have already put good marks...

We're in prime 5, we're almost halfway there.

Yes, I'm difficult but I also like to give good grades when it's deserved.

Frankly, we had some great performances.

You are the historic judge of the show.

What is it that, unlike your classmates, you never wanted to take a break?

First of all because my armchair is very comfortable.

I'm not going to lie to you, I'm very comfortable there.

Then I have a special relationship with this show.

Not only was I present during its creation in 2003 in England for the original format which is called “Strictly come dancing”.

And on top of that, in France, I was artistic director of the show for almost six or seven seasons.

I love this show.

It takes me two months and I have the rest of the year to do other things so it suits me very well.

“It is not because Jean-Marc Généreux has not been on the show for two years that he is no longer part of the “Dancing with the Stars” family”.

Jean-Marc Généreux came twice this season.

Is there a chance to see him more regularly next year?

I hope !

He's my boyfriend, I love him.

We started this adventure together in 2011 and it's true that I've always been delighted to have him by my side.

We'll see what the future holds for us.

In any case, as you have seen, it is not because he has not been on the show for two years that he is no longer part of the “Dancing with the stars” family.

We always welcome him with open arms.

What is your feeling about the jury for this 12th season?

I think you see it on the air: we have a lot of fun!

We're lucky.

Bilal Hassani, I knew him from last year.

He's someone I love very much.

Then most of the other judges who join "Dancing with the Stars" are still dancers.

So we have a passion for living together which allows us, in one way or another, to be connected.

Last summer we saw you host “Good singers” on TF1.

Do you have any new projects as a presenter?

It's been a few years since TF1 asked me to join the channel's team of presenters.

It took two years to find the right format and it turns out that “Good singers” was perfect for me since I love music, I love the show.

I also like being able to bounce back, having a bit of humor and being able to play with teams around me.

We are of course talking about new formats which should arrive in the coming months, but I will leave it to TF1 to announce the new ones.

“This tour is my little baby.

I think we're already full on 60% of the dates, so it's crazy!

The tour of your show

So we dance

resumes on December 3th...

This tour is my little baby.

I think we're already full on 60% of the dates, so it's crazy!

There will be a few new paintings, then Elsa Blois joins the team.

Otherwise, we can say that it's the show

So we dance

that I created in 2019 and that we couldn't really play because of the Covid but of course the technology has advanced and as the dancers are immersed in holographic universes, I can tell you that it is an absolutely unforgettable experience for the public.

Are you already working on a new show?

There are several things:

So we dance

will become an annual show, that is to say that each year, we will offer the new version.

Then I am currently writing a musical on which I already have several producers who have positioned themselves.

But, as I am still at the writing stage, I will communicate on it later.

A word on the movie

My Heroine

?

I choreographed it with my wife, Jaclyn Spencer.

This is director Noémie Lefort's first feature film, in theaters on December 14.

These are literally my first small steps in the cinema since I also make an appearance there as myself.

It was very funny to go to New York to play my own role in a film whereas ten years ago, nobody knew me in France.

I find that pretty crazy.
