The Californian giant plans to accelerate the sales of its two cars doped, in particular in photos, by software power developed

Reproduce more or less the success of its software in its hardware offer.

Google unveiled this Thursday at a special conference its new range of Pixel smartphones.

Put on the market for 6 years, these high-end devices have so far only met with success in terms of sales volumes despite serious photography skills and an optimized Android software experience.

The Mountain View giant considers “investing in this portfolio for the long term” but would not be against receiving a few dividends.

The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro open a new cycle of ambitions where these devices are not content to materialize Google's software prowess but to put them to music.

Priority objective: to make it known that another Silicon Valley giant produces, like Apple, advanced smartphones.

“We see that notoriety is increasing on social networks and that interest is starting to translate into sales”, explains Raphaël Goumain, marketing director of Google France, without however giving the awareness rate of the products.

YouTube as advertising reinforcement

The subsidiary of the Alphabet group benefits in this communication exercise from a weighty ally with the advertising war machine that is YouTube and its clips between two videos.

The Californian company has also opted for the strategy of offering lower prices - from 649 euros for the Pixel 7 and 899 euros for the Pro - than the alternatives that box in its category and a less extensive technical sheet than the others. manufacturers like Samsung, Oppo or Xiaomi.

Manufactured by Samsung, the in-house Tensor G2 processor equips the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Let's then dive into more detail in a technical sheet that is not stingy with innovations.

The Pixel 7 presents itself in the arena with a 6.3-inch Oled screen with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 90 Hz. 8 GB of RAM drives this device supplied, like its big brother, with the latest version of Android 13 and 5 years of guaranteed security updates.

The Pixel 7 Pro offers a large 6.7-inch OLED QHD + screen which, like all premium smartphones, has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for even more fluidity.

It relies on 12GB of RAM to make the most of its features.

The Pixel 7 Pro and 7 offer an experience under Android 13 in its version without overlay.

The photo as a selling point

The main interest of these photophones, the photo modules on the Pixel 7 consist of a 50 megapixel wide-angle main sensor with an X2 optical zoom.

It is complemented by an ultra wide angle of 12 MP.

On the Pixel 7 Pro, we find the main 50 MP sensor and the 12 MP ultra-wide angle sensor, but Google has housed an interesting 48 MP telephoto lens with an X5 optical zoom on the back.

Better, the digital zoom could climb to X30 so as not to miss a detail in the distance.

Because the software magic of the device will take care of magnifying the shots with an “anti-blur” function which could catch up with a photo taken on the fly or the magic eraser capable of expurgating any photobombing.

The Pixels are available in three colors: volcanic black, snow and green.

A feature already present in the predecessors including the recent Pixel 6a which have been “the best-selling models since the launch of our smartphones”.

The Pixel 7 will go on sale, from October 13, from 649 euros while its big brother the Pixel 7 Pro will cost from 899 euros (from 128 GB / 12 GB of RAM).

In line with its ambitions, Google has densified its sales network with a threefold increase in its distribution points, particularly in the physical shops of operators.

Everything is ready to start the big Christmas battle most conducive to charming the barge.
