The municipality of Pöcking has a new honorary citizen.
The certificate was presented to host and archivist Leonhard Poelt on Wednesday at a ceremony in Pöcking's new living room, the Beccult.
Pöcking - With Leonhard Poelt, the municipality of Pöcking honored "a modest person who shines without standing in the limelight".
In this short but concise sentence, laudator Erich Kasberger summarized the character and merits of the honorary citizen of the Seegemeinde alongside Ameli Erhard and Ralf Kirberg.
At a ceremony in Pöcking's new living room, the Beccult, Deputy Mayor Albert Luppart Poelt presented the certificate on Wednesday evening.
A unanimous decision was taken by the municipal council.
The evening was accompanied by the Tutzinger Stubnmusi.
Luppart once again had to represent Mayor Rainer Schnitzler, who was infected with the corona virus.
"At some point you have to learn to live with the virus," said Luppart, probably also with a view to the tables set for 100 invited guests, where some chairs were not occupied.
In addition to Poelt's family with son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren, there were a number of friends and companions, members of the municipal council and representatives of local clubs and institutions.
In addition to the other honorary citizens, the vice mayor welcomed by name the Protestant pastor Christiane Doering, the bearer of the "Pöckinger Owl", Dorle Lautenschlager (Leonhard Poelt received the first owl in 2006) and laudator Kasberger and his partner Prof. Marita Krauss, the commander of the school for information technology of the Bundeswehr,
As a local archivist and innkeeper, he made a name for himself in the community of Pöcking
"It's about time for this award," said Luppart.
Poelt not only rendered services to the community as a local chronicler and keeper of customs.
"Anyone looking for Poelt will find many Poelts," Kasberger picked up on Luppart's advice.
In 1963, Leonhard Poelt, as heir to his parents Clemens and Maria, continued the centuries-old tavern tradition of “Beim Poelt”.
At the same time, he indulged in his hobby of historical research.
He was particularly taken with the history of Pöcking.
For many years he searched in archives and found a lot.
This pool of knowledge gave Pöcking and its districts their identity.
Kasberger described the local chronicles written by Poelt as "historically well-founded works".
And then there is the botanist Leonhard Poelt.
Equipped with a camera, he stalked out into nature and documented the existing and dying flora.
All of this was only possible because his wife actively supported him in running the Posthotel.
His Maria, "who came from the East," Poelt used to say.
What was meant was the eastern shore of Lake Starnberg.
The honoree – he will be 93 in December – thanked him for the invitation to join the small circle of honorary citizens.
"I'm happy to be part of this community," he said, ending to standing applause with the words: "May the Lord God continue to hold his blessing hand over this community." mül
