Pablo Iglesias does not achieve the position of professor of journalism at the Complutense by obtaining one of the worst marks of the test

The former Vice President of the Government and former leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, communicated a few months ago on social networks his intention to return to being a professor at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), aspiring to one of the two positions offered as an associate professor: one in the Faculty of Information Sciences and another in Politics.

However, Iglesias has not been able to pass one of the two tests, the one corresponding to the position of associate professor of Journalism (Information on radio and Information on TV).

With a final score of 4 out of 10, he has been surpassed by four other contenders, ranking fifth out of a total of seven applicants, according to the score table published by the UCM and advanced by

.

The test consisted of four sections: professional experience, teaching and research experience, a personal interview and other merits.

The political scientist has not been able to achieve the highest grade in two of the four sections.

Iglesias has obtained 2.4 points out of 6 in professional experience and 0.6 out of 3 in teaching and research experience.

Only in the other merits section has he achieved the full score: 1 point.

In total he has added 4 points, surpassed by four other applicants who have achieved 7.4;

6.65;

6.50 and 4.30, respectively.

Iglesias, who has a PhD in Political Science from the Complutense University, had already been linked to that university as an associate professor in the Faculty of Political Science before founding Podemos on January 17, 2014 and actively entering politics.

After being appointed second vice president in the Government of Pedro Sánchez in January 2020, Iglesias resigned from that position in March 2021 to run as a candidate for Podemos in the elections of the Community of Madrid on May 4 of that year in coalition with IU .

After finishing last, obtaining 10 of the 136 seats in the Madrid Assembly, Iglesias announced on election night that he was leaving politics and his position as secretary general of Podemos.

Iglesias had become known as a presenter and talk show host on several television programs before founding Podemos and making the leap to institutional politics.
