Landsberg – The player coach of TSV Landsberg, Sascha Mölders (37), and his wife Ivonne (42): A couple for 16 years, married for 14 years – and now a “twin pack” on the soccer field.

The KREISBOTE met the two in Lechstadt for a double interview.

Mr. Mölders, we recently read that Mölders "shoots" or "shatters" the Bayernliga.

They have scored 16 times so far.

Are you still too good for League 5?

Sascha:

"No, I came here so that we could play the regional league next season.

But I have respect for every league and the current success is due to the whole team and the way we play football.

I get the chances and I just make them - every goal I score increases the chance that we win.

That pleases me as a player, but even more as a coach.

But it's only possible because our players dare to play football.

Don't hammer the ball somewhere, always look for solutions."

Ivonne:

"As a player-coach you have to perform well.

Even more than as a player.”

A new experience?

Sascha:

"Of course - I've always said: When I notice that everything is difficult for me, that I can no longer assert myself and can't walk, I have to say: That's it then.

But I still have a lot of fun being on the pitch with the guys.

I can't imagine not kicking.”

Apparently, this fun was missing during their guest performance in Großaspach.

A lost half a year?

Sascha:

"No, you take something with you from everywhere."

Ivonne:

"It was also a pure friendship - and it was clear from the start that Sascha would only be there for four months."

Sascha:

“By the way, I gave up a lot of money for this friendship service.

I had umpteen offers in the winter after the breakup of 1860.

I could even have switched to South Korea or Bangkok.

But I only do things that I feel like doing.

That's why we went to Landsberg."

You player-coach, your wife team manager – how important is that to you?

Sascha:

“This support is very important to me.

Ivonne is great, she does everything for the players and they appreciate that."

Like your coaching staff...

Sascha:

"He's great too.

The talks with Jürgen Meissner and Mike Hutterer before the season started were great, but at first I wasn't sure whether the constellation with two player-coaches would work.

But it's amazing how it all works now.

Mike and I are absolutely equal.

There isn't a sheet that fits in between, and the players know that too."

How does the coach Mölders actually tick?

Sascha:

“First of all: the level of training here is brutally high, after that we'll line up.

I want success, I'm pissed off after defeats, I've set the bar very high and I set an example for the boys - in every training session and in every game.

I have no problem sitting on the bench when I see that someone else is better.

And I keep telling the squad before every game: we want to celebrate in May.”

Ivonne:

“Sascha is totally self-critical and makes the same demands on others as he does on himself. He is always the first to criticize himself in every meeting, addressing the mistakes he made as a player.

Even if he scored three goals.”

What has changed as a result of being a coach?

Sascha:

"I've been a trainer in various functions for ten years, currently also a coach of Mering II in the A class.

But this is the highest position so far.

You can now do your own thing, set priorities and bring in a winning mentality.

Because you know exactly what you need as a player.”

Ivonne:

"And now you have to do the organization yourself, which someone else did for you."

You're getting your coaching license in Oberhaching – how's it going?

Sascha:

"Yes, I'm currently doing the B-Plus license, so I could train in the U17 Bundesliga.

And I could get a special permit for the A license when I climb.

The course lasts until mid-November.”

Ivonne:

"And now come online, online, online - that's not exactly Sascha's thing.

He hates computers.”

Sascha:

"I'm not fit on the internet either, I can't do it.

I have a lot more problems there than on the pitch..."

Let's talk about 1860.

You are still a cult among the fans.

At every Landsberg game you see spectators in lion jerseys with the number 9, fan clubs come, even “Helmi” was there recently.

Sascha:

"That shows me that I didn't do much wrong.

It must not be forgotten that during the club's most difficult and worst time, I was the only one who stood by in 1860 when everyone left.

I gave up a lot of money when I went to the 4th division with 1860.

I wanted to correct the descent and give something back to the spectators.

Ultimately, we succeeded in doing that.”

At that time you were the "Wampe von Giesing", now you seem in top shape...

Sascha:

“I was always fit and I am now.

But I will never have a six pack again in my life.

I do have a small tummy.

But I was first measured..."

Sascha:

"...and everything was just right.

BMI value, body fat, muscles - everything is fine, a top body.

It was said: Your husband will stay young for a long time.”

How is your relationship with your former club now?

Are you chasing the lions?

Sasha:

"Of course.

I've been to the stadium once this season..."

Ivonne:

"I have often!"

Sascha:

"...and of course I always watch the highlights and the games on TV when I'm at home.

I was a Leo for six years, my longest in professional football, and I don't hold grudges.

It could have been solved differently back then, Sixty will know that too.

But that's forgotten, recently I even congratulated coach Michael Köllner on the great performance.

I wish the lions that they finally get out of the 3rd division.

The fans deserve that because 1860 is just a great club.”

So the connection has remained?

Sasha:

"Sure.

Of course I'm rooting for it, I'm still a lion fan.

That won't change either.

As with any club, I've always worn the jersey with pride and I've played in three different leagues with 1860.

That is also extraordinary and is honored.”

Ivonne:

"What nobody knows yet: So far, Sascha only has the 1860 coat of arms on his chest.

But now there is another tattoo: He gets a big lion on his body.

Incidentally, I also have one on my thigh – I had it done right when I said goodbye to the lions.

As a souvenir.”

And when you climb up: will there also be a Landsberg tattoo?

Sascha:

"It's not planned, but I don't want to rule anything out."

Ivonne

(a big fan of the island): "Let's see what happens on our final trip to Mallorca..."

By then it should also be clear how things will continue, whether there will be another year of Mölders in Landsberg.

You only have a contract until the end of the season.

Do you want to continue?

Sasha:

"Of course.

I don't want to climb up and then leave."
