Westerheim - With a kick-off event last Tuesday, the extended Flexibus offer in the Lower Allgäu was presented to the public.
This individualized form of local public transport is now also available in seven additional communities in the Ottobeuren, Markt Rettenbach, Erkheim and Sontheim areas.
With this, further "white spots" in the mobility supply in the Lower Allgäu communities of Böhen, Hawangen, Holzgünz, Lauben, Sontheim, Ungerhausen and Westerheim could be closed.
With the 677 Flexibus stops east of Memmingen, the people of Lower Allgäu now have a significantly improved connection to the Sontheim federal railway junction and the Ottobeuren bus junction.
Westerheim's Mayor Christa Bail spoke of a "happy day" for Westerheim and the citizens of the region.
The great desire for improved mobility also came to the fore in the senior citizens' overall concept of the Lower Allgäu.
For District Administrator Alex Eder, the Flexibus concept is an ideal and successful addition to the regular bus service in the district.
In rural areas and with large areas, a regular bus service, as it is known from big cities, makes neither economic nor ecological sense.
With the now unlocked region of this form of the "Ruf Bus" you now have 110.
000 Lower Allgäu access to local public transport.
The last two supply gaps in the Lower Allgäu are to be closed in the coming year.
unlock potential
In his welcome speech, Flexibus Managing Director Josef Brandner emphasized that the potential in the Lower Allgäu is far from exhausted.
"Only by using the offer does it also develop its effect," says Brandner.
In Ottobeuren, for example, only about a hundred users are currently registered.
In order to be able to use the Flexibus, you have to register beforehand the first time you use it.
This can be done by phone or online at www.flexibus.net.
Registration and bus reservations can be made daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.;
the Flexibus then runs from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and public holidays.
The "Flexibus App 2.0" available for mobile phones not only makes booking easier, but also provides extensive information about connections and travel times.
Westerheim's mayor Christa Bail is now looking for a suitable joint "event" with all mayors of the affected communities to make the new offer better known in the member communities.
