PS5 September System Software Update (Sony)
It didn't take too long, but it's been a year and 11 months (to be exact) since the PlayStation 5 was released, and this week it happened: the PS5 console was hacked.
This means that it is theoretically possible to install hacked games and software on the console, but before you remember the days of the burned discs of the PlayStation 2, wait, it's not that simple.
An amateur network security researcher named SpectorDev is responsible for the breach, who discovered a weakness in the console's internal browser through which code could be run that would grant access to the console's internal system, thus enabling external installations of applications and games.
A player on Twitter demonstrated how this exploit allows the installation of the demo of PT - a game that had to be installed via a USB drive, as it is no longer officially available on the Sony store.
The problem is that currently you can install the apps and games but not play them.
In addition, he also demonstrated how this loophole allows access to the debug menu, which normally only developers have access to.
In any case, even if you feel adventurous, it is not recommended at all to install the loophole.
This is a very preliminary version that is only valid for firmware version 4.03 from October last year, and currently it does not give players anything.
But it is also a significant step for hackers and modders, who will not rest until they manage to fully hack the PlayStation 5.
