Po Leung Kuk said today (August 8) that the Board of Directors recently passed the establishment of an "Independent Review Committee" to review residential services for children's residential care homes, inviting professionals from different sectors to conduct an in-depth review of its governance system and services for residential residential services for children aged 0 to 6 , identify deficiencies and propose improvement plans, and emphasize that there is zero tolerance for any behavior that causes children to be harmed, and will be dealt with seriously.


The committee consists of seven members, chaired by Peng Yunxi, the former president of the Law Society of Hong Kong. The members include Su Jinghuan, co-chairman of the Paediatric Coordination Committee of the Hospital Authority, clinical psychologist Poon Mak Ruiwen, and member of the Children's Affairs Committee, Huang Ziqian.


After further investigation, the police today (30th) arrested a 28-year-old female staff member of the Infant Unit of Po Leung Kuk on suspicion of abusing or neglecting children or juveniles under her care. She has been released on bail pending further investigation.

Po Leung Kuk said that, like all sectors of the community, it is very concerned about some child care workers who are suspected of improperly caring for children, and understands that the public has doubts about the service. Po Leung Kuk said that the committee will start its work as soon as possible, including reviewing the overall service level, policies and measures of the Residential Services for Children's Residential Services of the Bureau, etc. It will also pay attention to the relevant government policies and the latest developments, and propose policy areas and arrangements that need to be improved.
