The Syrian Youth Cultural Club, in cooperation with the Arab Writers Union and Cilicia Publishing House, held the Arab and Armenian Book Fair, in the Levon Chant Hall in the Armenian Diocese House in the Villas neighborhood of Aleppo.
The two-day exhibition comes within the activities of the Armenian Culture Month, and includes more than 700 titles of various Armenian and Arabic books, including literary, scientific, and cultural books, including novels, stories and poetry, books for children and young people, in addition to books printed in the Armenian language.
The assistant bishop, the Acting Armenian Diocese of the Diocese of Aleppo and its Dependencies, Father Manouk Barikhanian, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the exhibition aims to devote a culture of reading among the young generation, encourage them to acquire books and reading, and enhance the role of the paper book as a means in the process of intellectual and cognitive building, and to improve scientific skills. And deliver it to the largest possible segment of society, and contribute to the dissemination of Armenian culture among all segments of society.
The Director of Culture in Aleppo, Jaber Al-Sajour, indicated that the exhibition contributes to highlighting the Syrian culture in its various sects, and encouraging the young generation to acquire the book, which constitutes a real blending between the various components of Syrian society.
The director of the Syrian Youth Cultural Club, Maral Dikebekian, spoke about the importance of the exhibition in introducing the Armenian culture, which forms part of the Syrian identity, emphasizing the role of Arab and Armenian thought in building society, and the role of youth in renewing cultural thought through participatory exhibitions.
The head of the Arab Writers Union branch in Aleppo, Nazir Jaafar, indicated that participation in the exhibition is a culmination of the relationship with the Armenian people, documenting and affirming the historical and cultural friendship with its various literary symbols, and introducing more Arab and Armenian literature to all visitors to the exhibition.
The owner of Cilicia Publishing House, Matthews Apligatian, pointed out that the house participated in providing more than 400 titles of Armenian and Arabic books, with the aim of attracting children to acquire books and accompany them during their different age stages.
