The other side of female journalists who fought the war valiantly as the brave heroes of the Syrian Arab Army, documented with their pen the stories of the Syrian man, and dedicated their lives for the sake of his cause. She spoke about them in the first literary works of the journalist Mays Al-Ani through her novel (Extension of the Senses) to tell a picture of the women journalists and what they were exposed to during their coverage The course of the events from the honesty of transmitting information and their love for the profession of trouble on the one hand, and their feelings of fatigue, pain and challenge on the other.

Love, realism and documentation supported by the element of suspense and smooth narration of the course of events are the mainstay of the pages of the novel, which carried with it the spirit of the writer to spread the sentimental feelings of every Syrian journalist. Be their pencils and lenses, the image of the heroes of life.

The novel carried with it the documentation of some of the painful events that were imprinted in the memory of the Syrian conscience, from the fall of treachery shells on Damascus, and the loss of innocent lives, including the heroine’s father, Sham, and the systematic destruction of Palmyra’s effects at the hands of terrorists and the killing of its faithful guards on its history, and how the people of Palmyra wrote about its history. Aleppo is the most wonderful human story of social solidarity and insistence on life in the face of the siege imposed by terrorism on their city.

The writer referred to the pain in every home inside and outside Syria, and what the children were exposed to, so they were the biggest losers in this unjust war. As for the flame of love, it was the motive for the heroes of the novel to continue to challenge the cruelty of the war and its psychological and emotional effects, stemming from the need of the female despite her courage, and her entry into the fields of men to Whoever helps her in every step of her steps by conveying her lofty message, love was the strongest motivator for personal victories, and not to surrender in the face of death in its various cruel aspects.

Through the protagonists of the novel, the writer sought to show the impact of the war on the way of thinking with its spiritual depth of the philosophy of life and death, through dialogues between the main and secondary characters of the novel that brought them together by the coincidences of war, so they exchanged pain and reached one conclusion that all are victims of an unjust war.

Extension of Senses is a 146-page novel published by the Sene House for Culture, Publishing and Media. Journalist and writer Mays Al-Ani is an editor at the Syrian Arab News Agency, SANA. She won the award for the best script for a short film for the Soriana Foundation for Printing and Publishing, and the second place for the best report on the martyrs and the wounded in The Syrian Media Festival “The Golan Course”, and the third place for the best short story directed to a child about the Syrian General Book Authority at the Ministry of Culture.
