In the second ballot in Fahrenzhausen, the FWE candidate Susanne Hartmann won with 59.9 percent of the votes against her opponent Alexandra Karl (Greens).

Fahrenzhausen

– The result was historic even before it was officially confirmed: for the first time a woman governs in Fahrenzhausen.

The only question left for the run-off election on Sunday was: will the mayor be someone from outside, or someone who is at home in the community?

Fahrenzhausen's voters have decided - and it is the second premiere that could be celebrated on Sunday: The new town hall chief does not live locally, but in the neighboring municipality of Hohenkammer: 1207 people - 59.9 percent - have Susanne Hartmann (FWE) as mayor chosen.

Alexandra Karl (Greens) received 808 votes.

The turnout this time was even worse than in the first election round: only 50.62 percent of those eligible to vote had ticked the box.

Made!

Hartmann will take over the official business as early as tomorrow, Tuesday.

It was already clear after the first round of elections on Sunday two weeks ago that the Ampertal community would have a mayor in the future, when the only man in the trio of candidates was eliminated: CSU candidate Günter Fuchs would have needed only 15 more votes to speak out against FWE -to assert candidate Susanne Hartmann.

In the first ballot, she received 31.4 percent of the votes.

The winner of the election Sunday two weeks ago was Alexandra Karl from the Greens with 37.9 percent of the vote.

The fact that Susanne Hartmann clearly won the race with a total of 59.9 percent should also please a large part of the municipal council.

16 of the 20 citizens' representatives have backed the candidate "from outside" in the past two weeks: "We stand behind Susanne Hartmann." Most recently, the majority of the committee underlined this attitude with a flyer on which the FDP district councilor and municipal councilor in Hohenkammer could be seen in the circle of their local political supporters.

Including five of the seven municipal councils of the Freie Bürgerliste (FBL) - the group from whose ranks Mayor Heinrich Stadlbauer (61), who died on June 1, came.

The FBL had not sent its own candidate into the race.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

"I'm really completely overwhelmed," said Susanne Hartmann in an FT interview after 3rd Mayor Heinrich Kislinger had announced the official final result.

The new mayor stressed that she had taken office with the firm intention that Fahrenzhausen should have a woman as boss.

Hartmann summarized the election campaign with the words: "It was eight weeks of consistent work that brought this result today." Her competitor Alexandra Karl says: "It was an interesting journey with a lot of knowledge and experience." both opponents felt nothing after the election.

Alexandra Karl congratulated the tearful winner and wished her all the best for her new job.

Death in campaign team

The reason why Alexandra Karl and her campaign team have held back over the past two weeks is a sad one, as she explained after the results were announced: One of her "biggest fighters" in the team, Ludwig Bauer, died during the election campaign.

"Of course I would have liked to have sent the news of my victory to the Wig today, but I think he would also be very proud of us." She was definitely because of this result.

Without her own local association behind her and without already being firmly in the saddle in local politics, getting 40 percent of the votes does not give her the feeling that she is going to leave the field as a loser.

Municipal supervision examines activities of the 2nd mayor of Fahrenzhausen: election officer and also election campaigner?

Local authority is now checking

2. Mayor Andreas Karl (FWE) again acted as election officer on the evening of the election.

Some voters accused him of not being neutral and of having campaigned too much for Susanne Hartmann.

The municipal supervisory authority checks whether this was correct and explained before the election: “The legal supervisory authority can only check the election after the run-off election, which forms a legal unit with the first election on September 25, because only then is there a verifiable election result .” It is not yet clear whether Andreas Karl's commitment will have any consequences.
