After three years, volunteers from the district were again honored for their commitment.

In addition, they each received a volunteer card from the district administrator, which promises discounts at some companies, among other things.

District

– “Anyone who does more than they have to do is an enrichment for our society,” said District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß when welcoming the volunteers in Eberfing, who – for the first time after a three-year Corona break – were invited by the district office were there to receive a certificate confirming their achievement.

The district administrator sees the commitment of the citizens as the "glue of our society", as she explained at the event.

Not only would the blue light organizations provide indispensable help, but also enrich people's lives.

Jochner-Weiß cited the Corpus Christi processions as an example, which would not be possible without the commitment of volunteers.

This ranges from the fire brigade blocking the streets to the citizens who set up and decorate the altars to those who carry the so-called heaven.

Volunteer card is valid for three years

The volunteers also receive the blue volunteer card, which is valid for three years, if they have spent at least five hours a week on their work for two years or have worked at least 250 hours a year on project work.

Those who provide this service for 25 years receive the golden volunteer card, which is valid indefinitely.

There are 30 sponsors in the county that grant benefits to cardholders, including a movie theater, an optometrist and an American restaurant chain.

There are also Bavaria-wide discounts, such as free entry to museums.

Silke Robeller, who is on the board of FidAR (women on the supervisory board), thinks it's "wonderful that volunteering is so valued in Bavaria".

And Arthur Wilm, who plays the violin in the Weilheim Chamber Orchestra and works on the board, says: "This appreciation is only so pronounced in Bavaria".

The chairwoman of the Iffeldorf neighborhood help, Ria Markowski, sees the honorary card as "a nice recognition" of the voluntary work.
