Six young women who disappeared without a trace in eight years.

A possible serial offender employs the Kripo Cuxhaven to this day.

Can the viewers of "Aktenzeichen XY" help?

In October 1977, 16-year-old Anja Beggers from Midlum in the Cuxhaven district disappeared without a trace after going to a disco.

Her disappearance is seen as the start of a series of crimes in Lower Saxony that investigators are still dealing with today.

Because by 1986, five other young women had disappeared in the same region.

Have you been the victim of a serial killer?

In the latest episode of "Aktenzeichen XY" on October 12, the case is rolled out again, as MANNHEIM24 reports.

Missing persons in "Aktenzeichen XY": Anja Beggers (16) disappears after the first visit to the disco

On October 7, 1977, a Friday, 16-year-old Anja drove to the dance club "Moustache" in Bremerhaven with an 18-year-old friend.

It is the young people's first visit to the disco.

When her companion leaves the restaurant and returns 30 minutes later, Anja has disappeared.

In the year of her disappearance, police believe she was hitchhiking home when she was killed by a stranger.

For weeks and years, Anja's family has been looking for the 16-year-old with all means - without a trace.

The investigators are also groping in the dark more than 45 years after the disappearance of the 16-year-old.

However, it is suspected that she could have become the victim of a serial offender - because from the end of the 70s five other young women from the same region in Lower Saxony disappeared.

Serial offenders in Lower Saxony?

After Anja Beggers, other women disappear without a trace

On June 7, 1978, 18-year-old Angelika Kielmann visited the “Zur Börse” disco in Cuxhaven.

She is last seen hitchhiking at around 11pm before disappearing without a trace.

A year later, on May 16, 1979, 19-year-old Anke Linienbach was also reported missing after visiting the Cuxhaven disco.

The crime spree continues in 1980 when Andrea Martens disappears on November 30 after visiting her boyfriend in Garlstedt.

The 19-year-old is said to have often hitchhiked.

Two years later, on August 14, 1982, the only 15-year-old Christina Bohle visited the "KASBA" disco in Beverstedt-Heerstedt - and has been missing ever since.

Apparently she also wanted to hitchhike home, as did 25-year-old Jutta Schneefuss.

On June 13, 1986, the mother of a then 5-year-old daughter is the 6th woman to disappear in the Lower Saxony region within eight years.

In the media, these cases were referred to as “disco or hitchhiker murders”.

Missing persons in northern Germany with "Aktenzeichen XY" - families hope for ZDF viewers

For decades, six families have been waiting in vain for a trace of the young women, who may all have been victims of a serial killer.

The Kripo rolls up the cases in the new investigation group Cold Case - and is also hoping for tips from the viewers of "Aktenzeichen XY".

As Rainer Brenner, head of the Cold Case investigation group, explained, the relatives had expressed the wish to go public with the cases again.

"The relatives were very positive about the fact that the police had started investigating again in all cases, but we're running out of time," says Brenner.

“We are now taking the time and trying to shed light on the darkness.

The relatives want certainty and we want to support the goal mentioned.”
