The magic of melody and singing mixed with the beauty of color and sculptures, this evening, at the launching ceremony of the fifth season of the Days of Syrian Art, which is held by the Ministry of Culture under the slogan "Seventy Years of Modernity", in the Opera Hall at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

The celebration this year celebrates the centenary of the birth of the artist, the teacher, Fateh al-Modarres, whose title was inspired by the seventy years since his painting “Kafr Jannah” won the first prize in the third annual exhibition in 1952, to be considered the beginning of the history of modernity in Syrian plastic art.

The start of the concert in the opera hall came with an audio-visual presentation accompanied by a distinctive piece of music composed by Maestro “Adnan Fathallah”, as a tribute to Fateh al-Modarres, which he composed specifically for the celebration, and played under his leadership by the Syrian National Band for Arab Music with a lyric link, and other music presented at the conclusion concert.

Over the course of thirty minutes, the link included a number of muwashshahat and traditional Arabic songs, including the song “Sawah” performed by the young singer “Ramah Shalghin” with a high sense of feeling, and the song “The Black Eyes” performed by the young singer “Maya Zain Al-Din” with several pieces of music by Arab and Syrian composers, including a cut. This is how it was composed and distributed by the band leader and the piece “Daydreams” written and distributed by “Mahdi Al-Mahdi”.

In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, said: Today we celebrate the days of Syrian plastic art, and the seventieth anniversary of the winning of one of the paintings of the teacher Fateh al-Modarres in 1952 with the award for the best painting, which was the start of the modernity movement in Syrian plastic art to unleash afterwards thought and creativity outside traditional frameworks while preserving On originality and adherence to the deep environment and heritage.

Moushouh indicated that the annual exhibition will return from this season to include the productions of veteran artists, as well as the works of young artists, and the creativity of all generations has begun to mingle.

For his part, the sculptor "Abdul Salam Qatmiz", one of the honorees of the celebration, gave the honor to his homeland, Syria, and said that honoring the artist inside his homeland is an indescribable feeling and has a special flavour.

In his turn, the graphic artist, Talal Al-Abdullah, one of the honorees of the celebration pointed out that the appreciation of the creative work of the Ministry of Culture constitutes an important moral incentive for the artist, and it is a good initiative that shows the extent of interest in plastic artists, and the appreciation of distinguished artistic experiences.

As for the honored artist and decorator, Majdi Al-Kuzbari, he explained that the honor came as a result of work and diligence for fifty years, stressing that the importance of this honor comes from his being in his country of Syria, which he considers a medal on his chest.

The ceremony was accompanied by the opening of an exhibition in the lobby of the Drama Hall in the house, which included three works for each of the honored late artists in their memory, namely “Alfred Tamal 1934 .. 1993, “Izz El-Din Hemmat” 1938 .. 2016 and “Abdul Karim Faraj” 1943 .. 2021 with a group Among the works of the honored artists in the celebration.

The lobby of the Opera Hall was decorated with an exhibition of eight works, by the artist Fateh Mudarres, dating back to several periods of his creative journey from the holdings of the Ministry of Culture, namely “Kafr Jannah” in 1952, “Painting Christ Returns to Nazareth” in 1980, and “Palette of Dervishes” in 1993 and “ A painting to Sidon in 1985, an Angel painting in 1983, a Bedouin painting from the island in 1997, a painting of the witnesses of Jesus Christ in 1989 and an Aleppo painting in 1981.

The celebration includes holding many exhibitions in public and private galleries, cultural centers, academic seminars and professional competitions, including the annual exhibition, the Modernity Exhibition in the People’s Hall, the portrait competition inspired by the works of Fateh al-Modarres in the Damascus Citadel, and the poster design competition at the al-Assad National Library.
