Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked threatened today (Tuesday) that if the government does not bring the approval of the agreement with Lebanon to the Knesset, "and just leave it for review", she will vote against the agreement.
"Every significant agreement in recent generations has been brought to the Knesset for approval with the understanding that on significant issues it is necessary to return to the sovereign, "especially in a situation of a government without the confidence of the Knesset," Shaked explained her decision.
Earlier, Prime Minister Yair Lapid announced that Israel and Lebanon had reached a "historic agreement." on the maritime border between them, when in Beirut they also signaled the acceptance of the American proposal. Tomorrow the cabinet will meet to vote on it and then it will go to the government plenum, which will vote on its transfer to the Knesset for review.
The Knesset itself is not expected to vote on the agreement, but to receive a review period of 14 days, at the end of which the agreement will be brought to the government for ratification .

According to Lapid, the draft agreement drawn up by the American mediator "fully complies with the principles presented by Israel, both in the security and economic fields."
According to him, "This is a historic achievement that will strengthen Israel's security, bring billions into Israel's economy and ensure stability on the northern border."
The agreement can be vetoed by Alternate Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, whose office stated in response to Lapid's announcement that the decisive consideration for him will be the security consideration.
"He will decide after he sees the agreement final and listens to all the security agencies," Bennett's office said.
In this announcement, Bennett returned to his original position regarding the agreement as prime minister, when he instructed to agree to compromises as long as security interests are preserved.
