Dießen – Whether Dießen will shine on November 24th is still in the stars.

The long Thursday before the first Advent could fall victim to the climate crisis this year after the forced Corona break.

In the current municipal council meeting, Mayor Sandra Perzul pleaded for the event organized by the trade association, but one still has to wait for the opinion of the district office.

Sandra Perzul stated that the power consumption of this one-off event, which lasted only five hours, was not significant.

At the Oktoberfest, with a blessing from the very top, three million kilowatt hours were "shot up", which corresponds to the annual requirement of 1,200 households.

The opinion of the councilors was mixed.

In times when saving energy is the top priority for the citizens, the municipalities have to set a good example.

Some councilors feared that people would have little sympathy for "Dießen shines" with its inevitable higher power consumption.

Antoinette Bagusat (Dießener Bürger), on the other hand, saw the artfully irradiated houses from Herrenstraße via Mühlstraße down to Untermüllerplatz as a cultural event that would cheer up visitors in the currently difficult times.

Michael Hofmann (BP) was annoyed at the meeting and afterwards on social media about the "green prohibitionism" because the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group tended to reject "Dießen glüht".

Uschi Wacke, the chairwoman of the trade association, thinks a cancellation would be a shame for the participating shops, which traditionally dress up especially for this pre-Christmas shopping evening.

In addition to the house illumination, performances are also planned, such as the Landsberger Stelzern, Akela's fire show or the light drummers from Pura Vida.

Totally unnecessary

Independently of "Dießen shines", Dießen's Greens had submitted an application for possible energy savings in the market town.

Colleague Michael Lutzeier (The Party) found this catalog of measures completely superfluous, since corresponding regulations had already been passed by the state.

The unnecessary Nacharocken of Dießener Grünen is a waste of time and energy and "only something for the shop window".

Mayor Perzul was able to report implementation or “in progress” for almost all of the measures proposed by the Greens.

Most of the street lighting in the municipal area has already been converted to energy-saving LEDs.

For the remaining lights, it's the turn of the service providers.

Perzul: "For safety reasons, the required installation of motion detectors in street lighting makes no sense and is also technically very complex." On the other hand, motion detectors to control the lighting in municipal properties are already partially installed.

As with the churches, the lighting of parish buildings and monuments was dispensed with.

Even the kiosk lights in the lake facilities were turned off and the electric pumps in the community wells were shut down.

The mayor was able to respond to the demand for energy-efficient renovation of community properties with short-term measures by optimizing the flow temperatures or heating times, some of which have already been carried out.

However, precise investigations and cost estimates must be obtained in order to implement cost-intensive savings measures such as "hydraulic balancing, renewal of the windows or installation of thermal insulation".

Only then could the funds required for future financial years be set aside.

slowed down

The Greens' demand for "immediate installation of the photovoltaic systems already estimated in the household and implementation for other locations" was thwarted because one could not act ad hoc here.

The necessary land use planning procedures for the PV system in Bischofsried are currently in progress, as are those for the open-space PV system with municipal participation in the south of Diessen.

Only the PV system on the Gruberberg building yard has already been commissioned and is scheduled to be installed in early 2023.

Perzul: "Further municipal PV systems are planned for the coming years as part of the upcoming budget consultations." At some point - as demanded by the Greens - the municipal e-cars can be charged with their own photovoltaic power.

The Greens have not even left out the municipal cemeteries in their catalog of measures.

They demand the suspension of weed control using the oil-powered hot water device and the gas-powered hot air lance.

As an alternative, the Greens proposed removing the gravel paths.

Instead, one could create lawns and pave the main paths.

According to Mayor Perzul, this is already partly planned, but the wild growth must be further combated.

The only solution would be to have your own gardener who only takes care of the cemeteries.

Deputy Mayor Roland scratches (CSU) noted that the relatives of those buried here have a right to a well-kept facility with their fees.
