A 28-year-old man was seriously injured this morning (Wednesday) in Dimona after smoking an electronic cigarette - which apparently caught fire and exploded in his mouth.
The MDA team that arrived at the scene provided medical treatment to the young man, who at the time was participating in a car race on Hatish Street in the city - and they took him to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva suffering from first degree burns to his eyes and chest and lacerations to his mouth.
"We saw a man about 28 years old lying on a path near the road." , said a paramedic and medic at the MDA, Atara Maimon and Elhi Elbaz.
"He was fully conscious and suffered from a burn in the chest and bleeding in the face. People who were there told us that he was injured by an electronic cigarette that caught fire and exploded. We gave him medical treatment and evacuated him to a hospital."
