For the first time in THE rankings, Hong Kong institutions have 5 universities in the world's top 100, including the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University, the University of Science and Technology, the Polytechnic University, and the City University, which ranks in the top 100 for the first time.
City University rose 52 places, and three other rankings rose. CUHK moved up four places, and HKU fell one place. The gap between the two was narrowed by five places.

Harvard is second, Cambridge is tied for third
The ranking covers 1,799 universities around the world, and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom has once again been rated as the best university in the world, ranking first for the seventh consecutive year.
