Minister Bar-Lev directed the immediate mobilization of 4 reserve companies in order to reinforce the forces in the area, along with increasing the freedom of movement of the residents of the Shoafat refugee camp - this without harming security considerations and the operational ability of the police to continue to thwart terrorism and any attempt to disrupt order.

During the assessment of the situation, Minister Bar-Lev said: "The events that took place last night are very serious, and the Israel Police acted resolutely to restore peace, and stood by it. Contrary to various publications, the events were under the control of the police, the riots did not endanger the rest of the city and did not spill over to the east Jerusalem. The various holiday events are taking place in the city as usual, thousands of visitors visit the capital and the freedom of worship of all religions is preserved.

"We have no intention of allowing anyone to break the order and resort to violence, and the police will act hard against any such attempt in order to ensure peace and security - this at the same time as the continued hunt for the terrorist who carried out the attack on Saturday.

"In addition to the reinforcement of police forces and the border guard, among other things through 4 reserve companies that will be mobilized immediately, our intention is to gain the freedom of movement of the residents of the Shoafat refugee camp, most of whom wish to continue their normal lives - all this without harming the operational considerations of the security forces.

"We face Even with many cases of incitement on the Internet and the spread of fake news regarding acts that the State of Israel is allegedly doing in the region - as stated, these are lies that have no connection with reality.

I would like to thank the police officers of the Israel Police, under the command of the commissioner and commander of the Jerusalem district. They act with great determination, courage and dedication, sometimes risking their lives, and deserve recognition for the responsibility and judgment they demonstrate."
