The Homs Agriculture Directorate, in cooperation with the Environment Directorate, carried out today an environmental walk in the Dahr al-Qusayr area, with the participation of dozens of cadres from the Directorates of Agriculture and Environment and the local community, as part of its educational activities and awareness of the importance of the environment.
Head of the Forestry Department in Homs, Engineer Amer Shaaban, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the walk comes within the educational activities and to raise awareness of the importance of the Dahr al-Qusair forest site, which is rich in its trees of pine, fir, hawthorn, cypress, chestnut and others.
The head of the Dahr Al-Qusair Forest site, Engineer Suleiman Ali, stated that the Dahr Al-Qusayr Forestry site is famous for its chestnut fruits, and is unique with the site of Jabal al-Nabi Matta in Syria.
The supervisor of the environmental path, Engineer Faraj Al-Mahmoud, said: The third environmental path that is being implemented by the Directorate of Agriculture in the governorate is a pioneering initiative that aims to introduce participants to biodiversity, forest plants, trees and animals and their benefits, and to achieve the ecological balance that exists in forest areas and forests.
The participant, Ibtisam Othman, considered that the march introduced us to the forest areas rich in their wealth, and the engineer, Shaza Al-Saleh, noted the importance of these activities.
