An Iranian citizen was arrested last night after being interviewed by an Israeli media outlet.
According to the Iran International group, which follows the events in the Islamic Republic, the writer Mahdi Baharam was arrested at one o'clock in the morning by the regime's intelligence officers and taken to Evin prison.
Mahdi Baharam talks about the protest to Channel 12
Baharam was interviewed about a week ago by Sivan Rahab-Meir on Channel 12 and talked about the ongoing protest in the country.
"What is happening in Iran is a historical process that did not start today, and I, as a writer who lives in Iranian society, cannot say that it is a new thing," Baharam said on the broadcast, "These demonstrations in the streets are the result of the social way of thinking of the women in Iran. If you look at the last hundred years, You see that women in Iran have always wanted to show their social identity. Iranian women look at advanced women in the world, and I mean of course women in the West, and think - why can't we enjoy the social rights that we deserve, the human rights that God has given us."
His family in the harem is very worried: if the writer is accused of connection with Israel, he may be sentenced to death.
So far, 200 people have been killed in the Iranian protest, including 23 children.
The trigger for the protest was the death of a 23-year-old woman who was caught for not wearing a hijab and beaten at the police station.
The injuries caused her death a few days later in the hospital.
