The People's Assembly, in its session held today, chaired by Hammouda Sabbagh, Speaker of the Assembly, discussed the performance of the Ministry of Industry and issues related to its work, and what it has accomplished of its plan to advance the industrial sector since the beginning of this year.

In a presentation presented by the Minister of Industry, Ziad Sabbagh, before the council, he explained that the ministry worked on several projects to revitalize the industrial sector in partnership with public and private agencies.

Minister Sabbagh confirmed that contracts were concluded with farmers to grow beet and receive the crop from them in a total amount estimated at 59 thousand tons for the current season, valued at about 15 billion Syrian pounds. On selling half of this quantity to Syria for trade at a price of 3.7 million pounds per ton, and the rest for the General Company for Conservation in Damascus.

He pointed out that about 1,500 tons of yeast were produced, valued at about 3.75 billion Syrian pounds, and the yeast factory in the Homs Sugar Company was rehabilitated in cooperation with the United Nations Program at an estimated cost equivalent to one million dollars, indicating that a comprehensive study had been prepared to rehabilitate the Damascus Dairy Company and Al-Consorwa to produce New products and increasing production capacities, which are gradually implemented through investment plans.

In their interventions, a number of council members demanded the development of an executive plan to rehabilitate and start production in a number of public sector factories suspended in the governorates, such as the Conservato and pasta factories in Daraa, sugar in Raqqa, fertilizers in Homs, tractors in Aleppo, drying onions in Salamiyah in Hama, and supplying Cement factories with filters to protect citizens and the environment from pollution caused by it.

They pointed to the need to increase the nature of work, incentives and compensations for workers in public and private sector establishments, to encourage them to increase the pace of production and maintain expertise, calling for sending committees to all industrial regions and cities to study the reality of establishments in them and find out the reasons for some of them stopping work and ways to address this matter.

Some members stressed the need to provide clear data on the reality and numbers of troubled companies and companies offered under the participatory clause, and the outcome of the submitted offers, noting the efforts made by the Ministry of Industry to revive the industrial sector, and the need to coordinate with the ministries of economy, foreign trade, agriculture, agricultural reform and finance to increase productivity and encourage investors to Establishing industrial projects.

In response to the interventions, Minister Sabbagh explained that the ministry is working to link the production plans of the institutions and their affiliated companies and the marketing plan, in order to achieve the largest contribution in the industrial sector in all its aspects to the development of the domestic product and meeting the needs of the market, noting that there are many industrial facilities that She was a loser over the past years and she is now a winner.

Minister Sabbagh confirmed that all the interventions and questions submitted by the council members will be answered in writing, provided to the council and followed up with the concerned ministries and public authorities.

The Council also approved the draft law that includes specifying certification references in sales, lease and investment contracts conducted by administrative units, and it became a law.
