A federal judge in Texas extended an order this Friday that temporarily allows hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to continue working and studying in the United States without fear of being deported.
Houston-based District Judge Andrew Hanen ruled last year that DACA—implemented in 2012 by Barack Obama—was illegal.
However, he allowed it to remain intact while defense attorneys appealed his ruling.
