An 80-year-old woman was killed this evening (Friday) in a fire that broke out in a house in Kiryat Tivon.

A medical team that arrived at the scene found her with severe burns, and had to pronounce her dead on the spot.

Paramedic Saleh Tabash said: "When we arrived at the scene, we saw thick smoke coming from the house. A man about 80 years old who was rescued was conscious and suffering from smoke inhalation. We gave him medical treatment that included oxygen and evacuated him In moderate and stable condition for further treatment at the hospital. After the firefighting operations were finished, we entered the house and saw a woman about 80 years old with severe burns on her body with no signs of life and we had no choice but to determine her death."

Earlier this week, a 66-year-old man was killed when he was caught in a fire in his apartment, in a residential building on Ha-Atsamat Avenue in Bat Yam.

The MDA team that arrived at the scene found the man unconscious, with severe burns on his body, and pronounced him dead on the spot. The team also provided medical treatment to two women in their 70s who were slightly injured. The police stated that the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
