The Ukraine war continues to be sluggish for Russia.

Putin's confidante Vladimir Solovyov is pessimistic on state television.

Moscow – Is the front in Russia that has been drumming for a war of aggression against Ukraine for months now crumbling?

One of the country's top propagandists seems to have lost his enthusiasm: Vladimir Solovyov no longer believes in the euphemism of the "special military operation".

BBC

journalist Francis Scarr shared a clip of the resigned-looking state television publicist on Twitter on Wednesday (12 October).

"Surely Vladimir Solovyov is beginning to doubt whether the launch of the 'special military operation' wasn't such a brilliant idea after all?" Scarr commented on the video on the short message service.

Around 60,000 people have viewed the clip so far.

Russia: Putin confidante complains about the situation in the Ukraine war

“Now to the question of rationality.

This is perhaps the most interesting question,” Solovyov said during a broadcast regarding Russia's position in the Ukraine conflict.

"Soon it will be almost eight months since the operation began, and... Well, it's clearly not a dedicated military operation anymore."

With such a statement, ordinary Russian citizens would be walking on thin ice.

The Kremlin made it mandatory to use this language - words like "war", "invasion", or "attack" are forbidden in the context of the Ukraine war and are punishable by law.

The well-known face of Russian state television continues that the military operation in Ukraine has developed into a war against the West.

“It is clear that we are fighting against NATO.

In addition, NATO is present there in its full size,” says the 58-year-old, who has been a close confidante of Vladimir Putin for years.

He has already threatened Germany with an invasion.

Solovyov earlier: "There will never be a war between Russia and Ukraine"

Since the Russian attack, the states of the western defense alliance have been supporting Ukraine, some with state-of-the-art weapons.

However, there is no question that NATO is not a party to the war.

Western fighters are now in Ukraine, as are Russian and Ukrainian soldiers, Solovyov comments and then complains: "I'm not even talking about the equipment, the intelligence service - it's all there."

Shortly before,

BBC

journalist Scarr had shared another video of the moderator on Twitter, which has been viewed more than a million times.

It shows Solovyov giving a speech in Moscow's Chekhov Art Theater in 2008.

He tells the audience that "there will never be a war between Russia and Ukraine".

"In Ukraine there are people who are absolutely brotherly in spirit, in blood and in common history and with whom a war would be the worst crime imaginable," Solovyov says in the recording.
