Tehran-Sana

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed that steps to reach a nuclear agreement and lift the unjust embargo imposed on Iran are on the right track.

Abdullahian said during a telephone conversation with the European Union Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Josep Borrell: "Despite some conflicting media statements by the American side, the steps to reach an agreement are now on the right track, and in this context we welcomed the cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Technical direction,” noting the constructive efforts made to help all parties return to their commitments in the nuclear agreement.

Abdullahian condemned the policies of Western countries inciting riots in Iran, pointing out that these countries act with double standards when facing riots on their soil.

"A more violent response to riots cannot be a good and acceptable act in Europe, while the same act within the framework of the law is considered repression in Iran," Abdullahian said, stressing that his country is not a land of velvet or colored coups and enjoys strong popular support and effective democracy. An anchor of stability and security in the region.

For his part, Borrell expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in reviving the nuclear agreement, and the importance of cooperation between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran.

Noting the good progress made in New York and Vienna on the negotiations to lift the embargo, Josep Borrell said, "We do not intend to interfere in Iran's internal affairs," stressing the need for more cooperation between the European Union and Iran.
