Indiana Latina Teacher Arrested for 'Kill List', Including Students

A student at St. Stanislaus Catholic Elementary School notified the center's management of the alleged threats from 25-year-old teacher Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres. Police said the incident is under investigation.

An Indiana Catholic school teacher was detained Thursday after authorities said she kept

a "kill list"

and had threatened some of her students, according to the NBC News affiliate in Chicago.

The East Chicago Police Department responded Wednesday night to St. Stanislaus School, in the Indiana city bordering Illinois, after a student reported that

fifth-grade teacher Angelica Carrasquillo-Torres

, 25, he had allegedly threatened to commit suicide, and also to harm students and school staff.

Carrasquillo-Torres also told the students about his “kill list,” telling them that they were at the bottom of the list.

The woman was escorted to the principal's office after the student's complaint.

There the teacher herself admitted having made the threats and having drawn up the aforementioned list.

The teacher did not give the paper to the principal, but she did name a specific student whose name was on it, NBC Chicago reported.

St. Stanislaus School did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but did share a statement on its Facebook page referring to an incident involving "a concerning report from a student regarding comments made by their teacher."

"The teacher was removed from the classroom and escorted to the principal's office, where she remained under supervision and had no further contact with the students,"

the statement said.

"The teacher was interviewed to find out more details."

The teacher was escorted off campus after the students left school and the Police Department was notified of the incident Wednesday night, according to the statement.

The school also conducted classes virtually on Friday in response to the incident.

East Chicago police arrested Carrasquillo-Torres Thursday morning at his home after an emergency detainer was approved, according to NBC Chicago.

The teacher remained in custody Friday and charges against her are pending, police said.

It's unclear if Carrasquillo-Torres was fired from St. Stanislaus School, but she was not listed as a teacher in the center's personnel directory on Friday.

The woman did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to police.
