Stream of refugees, kindergarten places, species and climate protection in the community: These were all topics of the citizens' meeting in Ottobrunn.

Ottobrunn

– Around 60 visitors came to the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus, the hall had been loosely seated in accordance with Corona, and the event could also be followed in the live stream.

There was no heated discussion.

The youngest community in the south-east of Munich's commuter belt seems to be at peace with itself overall.

At least, that's the impression she made.

Accordingly, it did not sound difficult when Mayor Thomas Loderer (CSU) said after the two and a half hour evening: "Let's be happy that we live in such a beautiful place as Ottobrunn.

But we have to do something to keep it that way."

His appeal: "Let's help together."

District Administrator on the refugee crisis that never ended

In the large hall, District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU), who had previously been to the citizens' meeting in Neubiberg and then stayed in Ottobrunn until the end, said that the refugee crisis never really came to an end.

"The number of refugees is very, very high," he said. 130 people seeking protection are currently arriving in Munich every day.

"It has to do with the international situation." Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Iraq: people can no longer live safely everywhere, and of course there are also those affected from Ukraine.

The anchor centers in Bavaria are currently "200 percent occupied", the accommodations in the district, because under the conditions of the living madness in Munich there is simply nothing to be found for those affected without a secure job, still full of people in need who have already been there before years have come.

Ottobrunn?

Is in the process of preparing the Hotel Pacific for women with children, old people, who are mainly fleeing from the Ukraine.

But will also have containers set up for 210 newcomers on the Johanniter property.

"We are committed to showing solidarity," said City Hall boss Loderer.

5,000 Ukrainians live in the district at the moment, most of them privately housed.

In addition, 3000 people seeking protection from the rest of the world.

Absurd situation in the kindergartens

The situation in the kindergartens?

It's almost absurd.

Because, like everywhere else, the infrastructure would be ready in Ottobrunn.

There is simply a lack of staff.

As a result, 41 places could not be filled in the crèche, and there were no care options for kindergarten children in 117 cases.

"It's depressing not being able to offer anything for so many families at the moment," said Loderer.

Otherwise: Those present pleaded for more species protection in areas that are already built up, asked about unemployment in the district (Göbel: "We have almost full employment"), asked about the subway (Loderer: "It would be an unforgivable sin which should not be built together with a depot.”), and after the long-decided redesign of the cemetery (Loderer: “is not the top priority”).

A man wanted to know why the municipality refused to cover his garden border with solar panels, Loderer: "We'll look at it again."

Large commercial settlement

In the meantime, Ottobrunn is breaking new ground in terms of building in the commercial area at Finsinger Feld.

The office towers planned there, which are to rise 70 meters into the sky, are already on paper.

However, it is uncertain whether the Bavarian startup Isar Aerospace can be kept on site, said Loderer.

Taufkirchen, like Feldkirchen, also put a lot of effort into the company.

As is well known, this will soon launch a 27-meter-long carrier rocket into orbit, presumably from Norway.

"80, 90 percent of the rocket is manufactured in Ottobrunn." The evening ended with good news: it looks like the restaurant in the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus will open again soon.

"The new landlords are motivated."
