A vast mobilization is planned this Sunday afternoon in Paris at the initiative of the Nupes (EELV, LFI, the PCF and the PS).
The procession will leave at 2 p.m. from Nation, east of the capital, and will parade for 2 kilometers to Place de la Bastille with four thematic floats: cost of living, climate, retirement and youth.
According to a source at the Ministry of the Interior quoted by
France Info
, 30,000 demonstrators are expected to protest "
against the government's inactions
".
A figure confirmed in
Figaro
but that the announced rain could however attenuate.
Among the demonstrators, some 200 and 400
"at-risk individuals
" are expected, a source in Beauvau
told
Le Figaro .
“
We fear in particular the ultra left, the ultra yellow, the unions and the most militant associations
”, specifies another source at the Paris police headquarters.
For the police, it will be a question of countering "
exactions and degradations
", and of "
doing everything to prevent the black blocks from having favorable ground: a place at the head of the procession, all gathered with the crowd around
“, Continues this same source.
For his part, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin canceled a trip to the militant Renaissance weekend in the North, to stay in Paris, according to
Europe 1.
Bus tickets from 5 to 50 euros... depending on income
In all, 112 vars were organized from nearly 80 cities in France, including Bordeaux, Brest, Rennes, Caen, Montpellier, Nantes or Toulouse.
A particularity: the price of the ticket does not depend on the duration of the journey or its distance, but on the “
level of income
” of each one.
Thus, the same trip costs 5 euros for incomes below 500 euros, 20 euros for those between 1500 euros and 2000 euros, and up to 50 euros for the wealthiest earning more than 3000 euros monthly.
Few unions, the CGT absent
Several associations for the defense of the environment joined the movement, but as of September, most unions announced that they would remain in the background.
To the great displeasure of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who aspired to the constitution of a "Popular Front".
The PCF itself, wishing to give priority to the unions, decided to refrain from marching on Sunday.
CGT leader Philippe Martinez repeated on Friday that his union would not participate in the march.
In addition to the fact that he disputes the idea of a single mobilization in Paris in the midst of a gasoline shortage, to which he prefers “
proximity actions
”, the union official underlines a difference in demands.
"
The slogans are not quite the same
," he said, since he himself is fighting for "
increased wages
" and not "
against the high cost of living
," said Philippe Martinez.
The CGT is therefore planning its own day of strike and interprofessional demonstrations on Tuesday, October 18.
