declared the first deputy mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire (

interview of October 2), putting a blow stop with the controversies which have not ceased and recently ignited in the media on the project of the site of the Eiffel tower.
This decision represents a victory for the defenders of the environment, who spared no effort to oppose a project to build luggage storage, commercial premises and offices which endangered the century-old trees at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. .
Reason prevailed in the face of an incomprehensible project: building commercial premises in a listed wooded area on the roots of hundred-year-old plane trees, clearly threatening their survival!
The city will therefore limit new constructions to the strict minimum and will install those that are really essential (offices, toilets) on already artificialized surfaces...
