Mindelheim/Unterallgäu – After Franz Josef Pschierer left the CSU at the end of September (the KURIER weekly reported in detail), the CSU faction in the district council demanded that Pschierer resign his mandate.

He had recently declared that he wanted to remain on the district council without a faction from now on.

The former Economics Minister has no thoughts of resigning, as he has now confirmed.

After the change from the CSU to the FDP, Pschierer said when asked that he would not join the SPD/FDP parliamentary group in the district council.

He had decided that by mutual agreement with the parliamentary group leader Roland Ahne (SPD) and will therefore act “independently” in the future.

Explosive: Pschierer's departure from the CSU changes the balance of power in the district council, which means that the Greens gain a seat in the district committee and six other committees that the CSU has to cede (read here why this is the case).

Which CSU district councilor will be dismissed from which committee and who will take over the seat for the Greens will be clarified tomorrow, Monday, October 17, at the district council meeting from 9 a.m. in the forum.

Back to Pschierer: His former parliamentary group colleagues are critical of the fact that the Mindelheimer will in future sit on the district council without a faction: As CSU parliamentary group leader Andreas Tschugg explains, “the voters gave their vote to Pschierer as a CSU member and thus also to the party and not to one non-attached district council".

If the 66-year-old is now leaving the party, it is only logical to forgo the district council mandate.

This is the only way the will of the voters can be represented and respected, according to a press release from the CSU parliamentary group.

Furthermore, at the CSU parliamentary group meeting on Wednesday, the decision was unanimously taken to ask Pschierer to vacate his seat in the association meeting of the Zweckverband der Sparkasse Schwaben-Bodensee and his supervisory board post at Klinikverbund Allgäu GmbH.

However, the FDP member of the state parliament is not thinking of withdrawing: “It is the right of the CSU parliamentary group to demand this.

However, I feel primarily committed to the citizens and the district and will therefore carry out my mandates with commitment until the end of this legislative period," explains Pschierer when asked.

FDP in Unterallgäu is happy

While the tablecloth has been cut with the CSU, the FDP is looking forward to working together - also with regard to the state and district election campaigns next year, in which Pschierer will play an active role, as will Bernhard Mohr, district chairman of the Liberals in Unterallgäu, explains: “This change is certainly a win for the FDP.

Franz Josef Pschierer can enrich our work, especially in the area of economic and financial policy.

As a former state secretary and economics minister, he still has an excellent network, especially in the area of medium-sized businesses," says Mohr.

"Franz Josef Pschierer was actually the economics expert of the CSU and his departure leaves a big gap there.

Pschierer has already set up a jour fixe with Mohr, among others.

The Mindelheimer only wants to comment on his role and the upcoming tasks in the next few weeks.
