Air travelers have to show nerves again.
The pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit has called for a three-day strike.
What passengers need to know from a legal perspective.
Düsseldorf - Eurowings passengers have to be prepared for problems - the pilots of the Lufthansa subsidiary went on a three-day strike on Monday.
The Lufthansa subsidiary assumes that more than half of the planned flights will still take place.
What rights do passengers have when there is a problem?
The following generally applies: In the event of delays and cancellations due to a pilot strike, there are claims to alternative transport, meals, accommodation and, in some cases, compensation payments under the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation in the amount of 250 to 600 euros.
Two options in case of flight cancellations
If the flight is canceled or delayed by more than three hours, the airline must offer alternative transport - whether by rebooking on other flights or converting the ticket into a train ticket (especially for domestic flights).
If a flight is cancelled, passengers have a second option in addition to being transported by the airline: request the money back.
But then they have to take care of themselves in any case, how they reach their goal.
Helpful websites and apps
Passengers can read about their rights in detail on the websites of consumer centers or Stiftung Warentest.
The free Flugärger app from the NRW consumer advice center can help when checking claims.
The European Consumer Center offers a browser-based self-help tool for flight problems.
If the flight is part of a package tour, the tour operator and not the airline is the first point of contact.
