More than 120 demonstrators were killed in the repression of demonstrations in Iran triggered on September 16 by the death of Iranian Mahsa Amini, according to a new report Monday October 17 from the NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR) based in Oslo.
A previous report from the same source reported at least 108 deaths in these protests.
The death of Mahsa Amini was the spark of the wave of protest.
The young Kurd died three days after her arrest by the morality police in Tehran who accused her of having violated the strict dress code in force, imposing in particular the wearing of the veil for women.
According to a count of the NGO in several cities of the country, 122 people died in the repression of these demonstrations.

In addition, the city of Zahedan in the province of Sistan-Baluchistan (south-east), was affected by several days of violence sparked on September 30 during demonstrations against the rape of a young girl attributed to a policeman, which killed at least 93 according to the IHR.
Among the dead in the Masha Amini-related protests and violence in Zahedan are 27 children, IHR said on Monday.
