The Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Dr. Amr Salem, discussed with Sergey Gordin, the permanent representative of the Crimean presidency in Russia, and his accompanying delegation, commercial relations between Syria and the Republic of Crimea, and ways to develop them, and overcome the difficulties they face, in a way that supports the national economy of both countries.
Minister Salem pointed out the importance of working to promote levels of trade exchange, discussing areas of cooperation through the exchange of products and its mechanisms, the nature of materials and facilitating financial transactions between the two sides.
In turn, Gordin confirmed his country's endeavor to develop trade partnership with Syria, through the Crimean Syrian Trade House, saying: We have capabilities to export wheat to Syria, and we also seek to develop exchange operations through bartering Syrian products, such as citrus, apples and olive oil in exchange for flour, vegetable oil, sugar and fodder corn. He stressed that the reputation of Syrian products throughout the Russian Federation is excellent, and there is a great desire to facilitate trade exchange between the two countries, in the interest of the two friendly peoples.
It should be noted that Syria and the Russian Republic of Crimea signed in 2019 an agreement to enhance trade and economic cooperation, within the activities of the 61st Damascus International Fair, in the fields of establishing a trading house and a shipping company for the private sector, and exchanging participations in exhibitions.
