For more than three decades, the listeners of "Voice of Israel" have become accustomed to hearing the voice of the announcer Mihara Imber.
Today (Tuesday) Imber passed away at the age of 79.
Imber was born in Jerusalem in 1943.
Her grandfather Shemariahu, after whom she was named, was the brother of the poet Naftali Hertz Imber, who composed the national anthem "Hope".
In the 1960s, after her release from the IDF, she studied at the University of Berkeley in California and directed herself towards an acting career, but after studying radio acting she began working as an announcer at Kol Israel. She presented music and text programs there, and in the 1990s she also announced Christmas editions in 2006 She retired from Kol Israel and in 2015 presented a personal weekly program on the IDF airwaves.
In a farewell message that she posted this morning on Facebook, Imber wrote: "Good Tuesday has come. Farewell. I feel the need to say goodbye. I lived with you and between you with immense love, great creativity and constant defiance. I am saying goodbye in completeness, peace and ease, surrounded by support and great love. I was blessed with a wonderful family, And with wonderful friends. Thank you for life with you and between you. Peace be upon you."
For several years, Imber directed the beacon ceremony at Mount Herzl.
Today, as mentioned, she passed away.
