For 22 years, Karl-Heinz Wildmoser jun.

an inn with traditional Bavarian cuisine at Marienplatz.

Now he is also opening an Italian restaurant.

Munich - It is said that the original Munich white sausage was invented in 1857 in the Munich inn "Zum Eternal Light" on Marienplatz.

Today's owner of this restaurant is a well-known man: Karl-Heinz Wildmoser junior, son of the former Lion President of the same name.

Now the 58-year-old has opened another restaurant.

Wildmoser is moving into new culinary territory: Italian instead of Bavarian.

"Pizzarei" is the name of his new restaurant.

The innkeeper couple Karl-Heinz and Nicole Wildmoser want to reveal details on Tuesday (October 18) on the occasion of the official opening.

The "Pizzarei" is located at the cathedral, not far from another gastronomic institution in Munich - the "Bratwurst Glöckl".

The landlord not only promises the guests a treat for the palate, but also “a highlight for the eyes”.

The restaurant is on two levels - with a ceiling full of hanging plants.

The Wildmosers want to serve “Italian delights in an urban jungle”.

Previously there was an Asian restaurant in the building on Sporerstrasse.

Meanwhile he takes over

Munich top chef Hans Jörg Bachmeier runs the traditional restaurant "Beim Sedlmayr".

In addition to Bavarian cuisine, Italian is now also available: Wildmoser opens “Pizzarei” in Munich

The trained hotel clerk (apprenticeship in the "Four Seasons") has been running his restaurant on Marienplatz since 2000. It is no longer called "Eternal Light" but since the conversion of the so-called Hugendubel building "Wildmosers Restaurant-Café am Marienplatz".

Until 2012, the family was also the tenant of the "Donisl" on Marienplatz.

The Gasthaus Hinterbrühl in Thalkirchen near the Isar is still family-owned, but has been leased to another host since 2011.

Wildmoser's father (1939 to 2010) had built up the gastronomy empire in Munich.

Since 1981 he has also been represented at the Wiesn as the landlord of the chicken and duck roastery.

Through his father, the junior became an official at TSV 1860 Munich and in 2001 took over the management of the club's newly founded GmbH & Co. KGaA.

Thus began the darkest period of his life.

Karl-Heinz Wildmoser junior was convicted in 2005 for breach of trust and bribery when bidding for contracts to build the Allianz Arena.

He went to prison for four and a half years.
