"Extreme highs": Heat wave hits Italy

Italy is currently being hit by an enormous heat wave.
Temperatures in excess of 30 degrees are reached in the south.
But the north is also sweating.
Rome – Summer temperatures in many places in Germany are currently over 20 degrees.
But in Italy, values above the 30-degree mark are now being reached again - this is absolutely not normal weather for southern Europeans either.
It's already hot in Italy right now - but after some rain in the north and in the center of the country caused a slight cooling from Friday, midsummer is returning.

Extreme weather in Italy: Temperatures like in July
This brings up to 33 degrees in Sicily and even 34 degrees in Sardinia at the weekend.
But also in the north - and thus in the region around Lake Garda, it is again extremely warm: in Bolzano up to 26 degrees are to be reached.
The same values are forecast for Rome.
In Milan, the thermometer reaches 24 degrees.
That would be six to seven degrees above the climatic average.
The paper writes of an "abnormal situation" and "extreme highs" for the current season, which are actually typical for July.
According to the
La Repubblica
report , the year 2022 - looking at the period from January to September - is already the hottest year in Italy since 1800. But now subtropical heat is returning to the country once again.
"Global warming is mocking our peninsula with an incredible climate," the paper summarizes the current weather events.
Italy had already been hit by an extreme heat wave in the summer, which then led to a massive drought.
Even pumping out Lake Garda was discussed.
