The General Manager of Homs Sugar Company, Eng. Yasser Ayoub, revealed that profits amounted to 850 million pounds from the beginning of the year until the end of last September, while the company’s sales of its products of soft yeast, medical alcohol, refined cotton oil, soap, cake, carbon gas and industrial alcohol amounted to 11 billion and 175 million pounds in the same period.
Regarding the conditions of the factories and their technical and productive condition, Ayoub explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the sugar factory is currently suspended due to the lack of the raw material needed for manufacturing, which is raw red sugar. Announcing it continuously to buy 25 thousand tons of raw sugar through the General Sugar Corporation, and recently it was announced by the Foundation The General Directorate of Foreign Trade also announced an amount of 25 thousand tons of raw sugar for the operation of others, indicating that the alcohol plant is in good condition and is operated as needed, as production is linked to demand for the product, and the quantity produced during the mentioned period reached 440 tons of white alcohol and 48 tons of industrial alcohol In addition to more than 70 tons of carbon gas.
Ayoub said: The yeast factory is operating at full production capacity to supply the governorates of Homs, Lattakia, Tartous and Hama with their need of fresh yeast, in addition to supplying the martyrs’ bakery in Aleppo, where the quantity produced of soft yeast from the beginning of the year until the end of last September reached 2816 tons.
Regarding the oil plant, Ayoub stated that the plant took off in mid-August to manufacture the entire quantities of cotton seeds received from the General Corporation for Cotton Ginning and Marketing for the 2021-2022 season, amounting to 622 tons, which resulted in 64 tons of refined cotton oil, while the soap department in the plant produced 76 tons of refined cotton oil at the end of last September. Soap, which is currently suspended due to its connection with the operation of the oil plant, adding that in order to benefit from the plant’s capacity and prevent it from stopping after the production of the quantities of cotton seeds available to the company has been completed, it has been announced the pressing and manufacture of cotton seeds or sunflower oil for a fee for the benefit of others according to a book of technical and legal conditions that has been prepared to this end.
It is noteworthy that the Homs Sugar Company achieved profits during the past year, amounting to 2 billion and 700 million pounds.
