On Wednesday morning, climate protection activists climbed onto gantries throughout the A100 city motorway, causing significant disruption to Berlin's commuter traffic.

To get people off the bridges, lanes were partially or completely blocked, said a police spokeswoman.

Berlin – The Rudolf Wissell Bridge, the Siemensdamm, Spandauer Damm, Kurfürstendamm, Kaiserdamm, Detmolder Straße, Alboinstraße junctions, the Schöneberger Heide junction in both directions, the crossing from the A100 to the A115 in the city center and the Wedding junction in both are affected directions.

The Last Generation group posted photos of the event on Twitter.

Climate protection activists from various groups had announced major campaigns for Berlin this week.

Activists penetrated the Federal Ministry of Finance on Monday, and on Tuesday morning activists blocked the entrance area of the Federal Ministry of Transport, among other things.

They call for immediate action to limit the climate crisis.

According to the group Scientist Rebellion, the allies include the groups Last Generation, Debt for Climate, End Fossil Occupy and Now or Never - Parents Against the Fossil Industry.

The "last generation" had already blocked motorway exits in Berlin last week and triggered false fire alarms.

The group has been active with blockades and other actions since the beginning of the year.

Demonstrators also disrupted football matches and taped themselves to picture frames in museums.
